Security Manager

Role Overview

This role owns the organization's security posture end to end, moving between budget planning, policy design, on-the-ground incident command, and fraud case oversight in a single week. Day to day, the manager directs third-party guarding and special-project teams, keeps investigations on schedule, and turns incident and spend data into decisions that protect people, property, and continuity of operations. It matters because security gaps convert quickly into financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational harm — this position is the operational backstop that keeps those outcomes off the table.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, monitor, and defend the annual security budget: allocate resources across competing priorities, track spend against approved limits, resolve variances early, and hold a contingency reserve for emergency response or unplanned equipment replacement.
• Produce the department's reporting rhythm — monthly internal updates and quarterly executive summaries covering incident activity, trends, and budget performance — using data visualization to make the numbers readable and actionable for stakeholders.
• Take charge of security incidents that threaten personnel or assets, driving fast resolution, complete documentation, and post-incident root-cause analysis that results in preventive measures rather than repeat events.
• Serve as a lead voice in crisis and emergency response, working in lockstep with the Business Continuity Committee when situations escalate.
• Manage the fraud case portfolio: brief the Security and Investigations Consultant, monitor progress against timelines, and confirm every case is handled in line with organizational policy.
• Design and run proactive fraud prevention work, including awareness training for staff and policy recommendations that close the vulnerabilities uncovered by investigations.
• Direct third-party teams — Special Projects (including difficult repossessions), Gate Guarding at entry points, and Community Liaison responding to local concerns — through clear expectations, regular performance reviews, and alignment with security objectives.
• Lead security audits across facilities and operations, then translate findings into policies covering access control, surveillance, and related controls, while pushing continuous improvement through training, process updates, and adoption of best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Seven or more years in security and fraud management, with practical exposure to safety programs and fraud response.
• Analytical strength and structured problem solving, including the ability to identify an issue, trace it to its source, and see the fix through.
• Contract management capability, particularly in supervising and holding third-party service providers to agreed standards.
• Sound decision-making under pressure, strong situational awareness, and a high level of personal resilience.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for work with executives, external consultants, community contacts, and internal teams.
• Clear ownership of the operational area and comfort being accountable for outcomes, paired with close attention to detail and a bias toward excellence.
• Fast, confident learning of detailed business processes — this role depends on understanding how the wider organization actually operates.
• Competent with Microsoft Excel, Word, Forms, and PowerPoint; experience with case management platforms and data analytics software is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CFE are a plus.
