Security Guard/ Guardette Grade 3

Role Overview

This is an on-ground security position responsible for safeguarding a university campus, its people, and its physical assets. You will carry out regular patrols, monitor entry and exit points, and respond to security incidents while enforcing campus rules and supporting emergency procedures. Your presence and vigilance directly contribute to a safe and orderly learning environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine foot patrols across the university grounds to detect and deter security threats, suspicious activity, or safety hazards.
• Inspect the integrity of the university perimeter fence and report any breaches, weak points, or signs of attempted intrusion.
• Protect university buildings, equipment, and other property from theft, vandalism, or accidental damage.
• Enforce university rules and regulations consistently while interacting professionally with students, staff, and visitors.
• Assist in firefighting efforts, including raising alarms, guiding evacuations, and using basic firefighting equipment where required.
• Maintain law and order on campus by intervening in disturbances, preventing escalation, and cooperating with relevant authorities when necessary.
• Control vehicular and pedestrian traffic within the university, ensuring clear access for emergency vehicles and orderly movement.
• Conduct surveillance duties and vet individuals entering or leaving the university to confirm their identity and authorisation, while recording and reporting all security incidents accurately.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A valid Certificate of Good Conduct from a recognised authority.
• Completion of National Youth Service training.
• At least three (3) years of experience in security services.
• Relevant on-the-job training or prior service in any of the disciplined forces.
• A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate or its equivalent.
• Physical fitness, alertness, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
