Strategic Objective

We are seeking a highly alert, disciplined Security Guard to anchor the safety and loss prevention protocols of our retail premises. Your primary focus will be to maintain an uncompromised protective shield over our inventory, staff, customers, and physical infrastructure. This position bridges rigorous access control with active situational awareness; you will guide onsite security from initial morning opening checks and visitor screening through to final end-of-day lockdowns. The role demands an observant professional who understands the fundamentals of risk deterrence and can seamlessly manage floor order while maintaining a courteous demeanor toward shoppers.

Scope of Responsibilities

Property Protection & Active Surveillance

• Safeguard the entire retail footprint, protecting corporate assets, store employees, and visiting shoppers from external or internal threats.

• Conduct continuous, systematic foot patrols within the shop floor, storage zones, and outer perimeters to deter illicit activities.

• Closely monitor indoor shopping corridors to prevent stock shrinkage, shoplifting, unauthorized property damage, or suspicious behavior.

Checkpoint Access Control

• Man, monitor, and regulate active entry and exit points to ensure zero unauthorized access to the retail facility.

• Screen, register, and verify the credentials of inbound visitors, external suppliers, and delivery personnel prior to entry.

• Enforce strict authorization checks before permitting any staff members or contractors into restricted back-office or stockrooms.

Incident Containment & Emergency Response

• Respond with absolute speed and composure to any physical disturbances, floor arguments, or emergency alerts.

• Detect, intercept, and immediately report incidents of theft, property defacement, or erratic customer conduct to store leadership.

• Execute crowd control protocols during peak shopping hours, sales events, or sudden bottleneck situations to preserve floor order.

• Follow established company emergency procedures to the letter during instances of fire, power failures, or active security threats.

Logging, Documentation & Facility Handover

• Maintain accurate, time-stamped daily security logs, ledger entries, and detailed incident reports for management review.

• Ensure all perimeter gates, roller shutters, and internal entryways are systematically locked, armed, and verified after standard trading hours.

• Conduct comprehensive verbal and written briefings during shift transitions to guarantee seamless handovers between incoming and outgoing teams.

Qualifications & Prerequisites

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Minimum of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.

• Experience: Previous practical experience operating as a security guard or watchman is highly preferred.

• Physical Fitness: Excellent physical conditioning, with the capacity to stand, walk, and execute active patrols for extended durations.

• Communication: Functional spoken and written literacy to handle customer inquiries and draft clear incident entries.
