Role Overview
You will be the constant visual guardian of a busy school campus in Ongata Rongai, watching over students, staff, and property from the security control room. Every shift involves sustained attention to live camera walls, rapid reaction to alarm triggers, and careful documentation of anything unusual. Your vigilance directly helps prevent theft, vandalism, and safety incidents while supporting the institution’s broader security operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor multi-screen CCTV feeds continuously, watching for unauthorised access, suspicious movement, or hazards such as fires or medical emergencies.
- Respond instantly to motion alerts, door alarms, and camera signal losses, verifying the cause and dispatching ground security personnel where needed.
- Maintain a precise control room log covering every alarm, observation, and action taken during your shift.
- Produce clear, factual incident reports for supervisors, capturing timestamps, involved parties, and sequence of events for follow-up.
- Retrieve and review archived footage when staff, law enforcement, or management request evidence for investigations, preserving a chain of custody.
- Run daily equipment checks on cameras, recording units, backup power supplies, and display monitors, escalating faults to vendors or technicians.
- Support installation and testing of new surveillance cameras or firmware upgrades, flagging coverage gaps or lens obstructions.
- Enforce confidentiality and data protection rules, ensuring only authorised individuals can access footage, logs, or exported clips.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a CCTV control room, central monitoring station, or security operations centre.
- Working knowledge of IP cameras, DVR/NVR platforms, and video archiving software, including playback and export functions.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations and internal CCTV retention policies is a strong advantage.
- Sharp observation skills and the ability to sustain focus during long monitoring periods.
- Calm, clear-headed decision-making during security incidents, with confident radio communication instructions.
- Good written English for incident logs and reports, plus accurate record-keeping habits.
