Repair Technician

Role Overview

The Tech-Ops Repair Officer carries out quality checks, assembly, repair and refurbishment of IEA K solar home systems, appliances and components. By following established technical procedures and meeting delivery targets, the officer helps ensure customers receive reliable equipment while keeping the workshop, tools and repair inventory in good order.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming shipments and complete incoming quality checks to the required weekly, monthly and quarterly targets.
• Disassemble, assemble, repair and refurbish solar home systems, appliances and components in line with approved processes.
• Prepare new, repaired and refurbished products for distribution within agreed timelines.
• Operate and monitor workshop equipment, including test jigs, panel and battery testers, soldering stations, flashers, multimeters, battery recovery machines, inverters, power supplies, and float and desulfation stands.
• Track work-in-progress items and spare components, and accurately record the condition and status of returned system parts in both physical records and PAYGEE.
• Maintain workshop tools and facilities, and contribute to improvements in workshop practices and output.
• Follow departmental and organizational procedures, and carry out basic maintenance and servicing of the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
• Take on other technical tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in a technical operations role involving solar technology, batteries, solar controllers, solar panels or test equipment.
• Practical repair skills, including accurate soldering.
• A university degree or diploma in renewable energy, electronics, electrical engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, 5S or Six Sigma is an advantage.
