Role Overview
You will deliver comprehensive, patient-centred nursing care in a busy clinical setting, assessing individual needs and adapting care plans as conditions evolve. Your daily work involves administering treatments, monitoring vital signs, and collaborating with doctors and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care. This role is essential to maintaining high standards of patient safety and clinical outcomes within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to formulate tailored care plans and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Observe patients for changes in physical or mental status and escalate findings to the supervising clinician promptly.
- Prepare and administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and treatments, documenting every step accurately.
- Maintain complete and legible nursing records, including admission notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
- Provide clear health education to patients and families on managing chronic conditions, post-surgical care, and preventive practices.
- Follow strict infection control protocols, including hand hygiene, sterilisation, and waste disposal procedures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and coordinate discharge plans.
- Uphold ethical standards, patient confidentiality, and a culture of safety in all interactions and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Recognised Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Active registration and a valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience in a hospital or clinical environment is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to remain composed and organised in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
- Demonstrated integrity, reliability, and a patient-first approach to care.
