Job Description

Overall Responsibility

  • To provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients by delivering continuous assessment, advanced patient monitoring, life-support interventions, and evidence-based nursing care while ensuring patient safety and quality clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in ICU/HDU.
  • Monitor patients\' vital signs and promptly respond to changes in clinical condition.
  • Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and blood products safely and accurately.
  • Operate and monitor critical care equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
  • Assist in emergency procedures, resuscitation, and advanced life support interventions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and nursing documentation.
  • Implement infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Educate and support patients\' families regarding treatment and ongoing care.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of critical care equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and continuous professional development.
  • Uphold professional, ethical, and regulatory nursing standards at all times.

Job Qualifications & Skills 

  • Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognized institution.
  • Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse with a valid Nursing Council of Kenya practicing license.
  • Valid BLS and ACLS certification;
  • At least two years\' experience in ICU, HDU, Emergency Department, or a similar critical care setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
