Job Description

Role Overview

This is a commercial leadership post carrying full profit-and-loss accountability for the Micro and Boresha lending lines, stretching from the field officers who recruit borrowers through to the recovery effort on accounts that fall behind. The person in the seat has to hold two opposing pressures at once — pushing disbursement volumes and new-market growth, while keeping the loan book clean through disciplined collection routines and early detection of arrears. Because the portfolio is spread across several regional Fulfilment Centres, the role is the connective tissue between field sales, credit, risk, debt recovery and finance, and the Managing Director depends on it to keep both growth and loan quality moving in the right direction simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regional growth planning: decide which markets, trade clusters, commercial partners and cross-sell channels the region should pursue, then convert that into disbursement, customer acquisition and revenue targets for each Fulfilment Centre.
  • Own the lending funnel: manage the journey from lead generation through to loan disbursement, protecting conversion efficiency and the underlying quality of the borrowers entering the book.
  • Commercial product oversight: track the profitability of each Micro and Boresha product, along with customer attrition, acquisition cost and how the offers compare with competing products in the market.
  • Collection discipline: set and enforce daily, weekly and monthly collection expectations against amounts falling due across every Fulfilment Centre in the region.
  • Portfolio health: monitor PAR, NPLs, roll rates and cure rates; trigger early intervention on accounts showing stress and escalate unrecoverable cases to Debt Recovery without delay.
  • Shared accountability for recovery: build a culture in which sales officers own both the loan they disburse and its full repayment, rather than treating disbursement as the finish line.
  • Team leadership and coaching: translate regional goals into individual KPIs for Fulfilment Centre Team Leaders — disbursements, collections, portfolio quality, repeat business and field visit activity — then follow through with productivity assessments, structured reviews and mentoring that spreads strong lending and recovery practices.
  • Reporting, compliance and people planning: produce management analysis covering portfolio outstanding, PAR, NPL, recovery rates and team productivity; keep lending within credit policy limits, delegated approval mandates and responsible-lending standards; and partner with HR on capacity planning, recruitment, interview panels, onboarding and underperformance management.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Marketing or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of active microfinance experience at Regional Manager, Branch Manager or Business Loans Manager level, with direct oversight of Micro, Boresha or SME loan portfolios.
  • A demonstrable record of meeting loan disbursement targets while holding PAR and NPL ratios low and collection rates high, ideally across multiple branches or regions.
  • Working command of microfinance business models, the credit lifecycle, debt collection frameworks and portfolio analysis systems.
  • Additional training or certification in banking, microfinance, credit management, collections or sales is a strong advantage.
  • Commercial judgement paired with risk discipline, sharp negotiation ability, decisions grounded in data, and a high standard of personal integrity.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • A monthly salary of Ksh 100,000.
  • A full-time, on-site position based in Nairobi, with travel across the regional Fulfilment Centres under your oversight.
  • Direct reporting line to the Managing Director, with leadership responsibility for Fulfilment Centre Team Leaders and regional field staff.
