Investment Analyst — Investment Team
Role Overview
This position sits inside the investment team and works directly alongside the Chief Investments Officer, functioning as the day-to-day analytical and operational anchor of the desk. You will spend your time tracking markets, keeping portfolio and cash positions under continuous review, and converting that information into reports and presentations that clients and senior decision-makers rely on. The role matters because sound investment decisions depend on information arriving on time and being right — and you will be one of the people making sure that happens.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile and circulate a daily market update covering equity, fixed income and macro movements, giving the team a shared, current view before the working day gets underway.
- Contribute to the weekly cash flow meeting: gather position and cash flow data beforehand, flag anomalies, and follow through on actions agreed in the room.
- Monitor portfolio holdings and performance on an ongoing basis, running analysis and producing reporting that shows how mandates are tracking against expectations.
- Draft and assemble client reports and presentations, working with colleagues to ensure figures reconcile and the narrative is clear.
- Support trading activity by watching markets, preparing and checking trade documentation, and seeing transactions through to accurate administration and recording.
- Carry out research into individual equities, fixed income instruments and wider market themes to inform investment recommendations.
- Take on ad hoc research, analysis, reporting and administrative requests across the team, reprioritising as deadlines shift.
- Operate within internal policies and external regulatory, risk and compliance standards at all times, escalating concerns rather than working around them.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a closely related discipline.
- Active progress towards CFA, ACCA or CPA — examinations already underway.
- Between six months and two years of experience in a financial sector role, or a substantive internship in a comparable investment-focused position.
- Demonstrated report writing and presentation ability: you can turn raw data into a document or deck that someone else can act on.
- Strong analytical skills, including comfort with numbers, close attention to detail and the instinct to question inconsistencies.
- Practical proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with Excel used daily for analysis rather than simple lists.
- Integrity, professionalism and a genuine appetite to learn from senior colleagues on the desk.
Why Join
- Direct working exposure to the Chief Investments Officer and visibility across the full investment process, from research through trading to client reporting.
- A varied brief rather than a narrow one — market analysis, portfolio monitoring, trade administration and client-facing output all form part of the same position.
- Space to build on professional studies while doing work that genuinely feeds into investment decisions.
- A team culture that expects questions and supports growing into greater responsibility over time.
