Job Description

Role Overview

This position puts you at the centre of structural building and commercial fit-out projects, running them from the first schedule draft through to formal handover. You will be the person on the ground in Industrial Area who keeps contractors, consultants, and site crews pulling in the same direction, ensuring every phase is completed on time, within the approved budget, and to the standards demanded by local regulators. The employer relies on this role to catch problems early — whether that is a clash between structural and architectural drawings or a materials bottleneck — so that projects reach completion without expensive rework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build detailed project programmes, including milestone trackers, work breakdown structures, and material allocation plans that guide the full construction sequence.
  • Coordinate general contractors, specialist sub-contractors, architects, structural engineers, and site labour to keep all trades aligned with the programme.
  • Chair weekly progress meetings on site, recording minutes and tracking action points through to closure.
  • Read and interpret structural CAD drawings, architectural layouts, engineering schematics, and technical specifications to confirm that built work matches approved designs.
  • Identify design conflicts, structural variances, and on-site clashes, then work with consultants to agree and implement practical technical fixes.
  • Carry out daily site inspections covering workmanship, progress, and material quality, and enforce health, safety, and environmental requirements alongside building codes.
  • Spot risks such as material shortages or weather-related delays early and put mitigation measures in place to protect completion dates.
  • Keep site records in order — revised drawings, daily logs, inspection sign-offs, variation orders, and safety documentation — and prepare progress reports for management.
  • Steer projects through practical completion, punch-list rectification, client walkthroughs, and final handover.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Technology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Three to seven years of hands-on experience running site operations, structural builds, or commercial fit-out projects, with increasing responsibility over that period.
  • Strong ability to interpret construction schematics and CAD drawings, plus working knowledge of scheduling software such as MS Project, Primavera, or AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated leadership of site teams and sub-contractors, including the ability to resolve disputes calmly under pressure.
  • Analytical approach to solving engineering and logistics problems without compromising quality standards.
  • Clear written and verbal communication for technical reports and coordination across multiple stakeholders.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • A full-time, on-site role based in Industrial Area, Nairobi, with direct reporting lines to executive management.
  • A monthly salary of KSh 90,000.
  • The chance to lead structural and fit-out projects end to end, gaining visibility with senior leadership while building your portfolio across varied builds.
