Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the intersection of environmental management, public health, and international development, focusing on integrated approaches such as One Health. You will design, steer, and evaluate projects that address how biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution affect human well-being, while working closely with governments, UN agencies, and civil society partners in developing countries. Day to day, your work involves turning complex evidence into actionable plans, facilitating stakeholder workshops, and ensuring that programmes stay on budget, on schedule, and aligned with broader policy goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full project cycle for assigned initiatives: shape the concept, support implementation, track progress against milestones, and recommend adjustments when delivery risks emerge.
  • Act as an internal consultant to partner organisations, facilitating workshops and structured dialogues that help clients define change management strategies and translate recommendations into concrete action plans.
  • Conduct research and synthesis across scientific reports, policy papers, and field data to produce briefing notes, background papers, and evidence-based recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Support policy development by reviewing emerging trends in environment and health, designing surveys or data collection tools, and interpreting findings to inform new regulations or programme priorities.
  • Draft high-quality written outputs, including sections of official reports, analytical studies, and inputs for publications aimed at both technical and non-specialist audiences.
  • Organise and provide substantive support for conferences, high-level meetings, and consultative sessions, from shaping agendas and selecting participants to preparing presentations and outcome documents.
  • Deliver training workshops, seminars, and outreach events that build capacity among government officials, community leaders, and other stakeholders on assigned thematic topics.
  • Participate in or lead field missions, offering technical guidance to external consultants and national authorities while documenting mission findings and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate budgeting and funding tasks, including preparing project proposals, financial progress reports, and resource mobilisation documents, while monitoring expenditures.
  • Apply data analytics to programme data, using visualisation tools to surface patterns and insights that support planning, reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environmental science, public health, interdisciplinary studies, social sciences, or a related field is required. A bachelor’s degree combined with additional qualifying experience may be accepted in place of the advanced degree.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, specifically within areas related to One Health, biodiversity, climate, or pollution linked to human health.
  • At least two years of professional experience working in developing countries, demonstrating sensitivity to local contexts and practical understanding of implementation challenges.
  • At least two years of experience within international organisations such as the United Nations system, including familiarity with inter-agency coordination and multilateral processes.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-stakeholder initiatives that bridge the health and environment sectors, with experience in international interagency collaborations considered an asset.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience in data analytics or a related field, including the ability to visualise and interpret data for non-technical audiences, is desirable.
  • Completion of certified or non-degree programmes in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to produce clear policy briefs, workshop materials, and formal reports under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to undertake field missions, sometimes in remote or resource-constrained settings, and to adapt facilitation approaches to diverse cultural contexts.
