M-Pesa Attendant

Role Overview

As an M-Pesa Attendant, you are the frontline point of contact for mobile money services at our retail outlets in Nairobi, Naivasha, or Narok. On every shift you handle customer deposits, withdrawals, bill payments, and airtime sales while keeping the outlet's cash float balanced and each transaction fully compliant with Safaricom's operating rules. Your precision and integrity directly protect customers' funds and safeguard our reputation for dependable, secure service.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out M-Pesa cash deposits, withdrawals, bank-to-wallet transfers, utility bill payments, and airtime purchases accurately at the till.
• Track working balances and liquid currency throughout each shift, requesting float top-ups or reporting shortages before service is affected.
• Reconcile physical cash against the digital ledger at the close of every shift, investigating and documenting any variance.
• Confirm customer identity by checking original national ID cards or passports before completing transactions, following Know Your Customer requirements.
• Keep customer phone numbers, identity details, and transaction values strictly confidential at all times.
• Maintain daily transaction logbooks, print and file receipts and deposit slips, and prepare end-of-day balance summaries for the supervisor's review.
• Apply security protocols to prevent fraud, reject counterfeit currency, and deter theft.
• Explain tariffs, service charges, and procedures to customers, handle routine queries calmly, and escalate terminal errors or network downtime to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic computer literacy and confidence using digital POS terminals or mobile money interfaces.
• Previous work as an M-Pesa agent, till operator, cashier, or mobile money attendant is an added advantage.
• Availability for full-time shift work, including weekends, extended hours, and rotational store schedules.
• Strong mental arithmetic and close attention to detail to keep financial discrepancies to a minimum.
• Demonstrated honesty and accountability when handling cash.
• Polite, clear, and patient communication style, especially during high-traffic periods.

This is a full-time, shift-based, on-site position at one of our outlets in Nairobi, Naivasha, or Narok, with gross monthly remuneration of KES 17,500. You will work in a busy retail environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and customer trust shape every transaction.
