Role Overview
This role provides hands-on support across the full lifecycle of event production, from building and assembling custom structures in the workshop to installing and dismantling them on-site. You will work closely with fabricators, carpenters, and installation teams to ensure every piece meets quality and safety standards before reaching the client. Your contribution directly impacts the seamless execution of live events, exhibitions, and branded environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the fabrication of set pieces, props, and décor elements under the guidance of senior craftspeople.
- Safely operate basic workshop tools including saws, drills, sanders, and measuring equipment to cut, shape, and finish materials.
- Prepare and organise materials, hardware, and supplies needed for each production phase.
- Support the loading and unloading of production vehicles and the movement of heavy or oversized items.
- Participate in on-site installation and de-installation of event structures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design plans.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, including routine tool maintenance and inventory checks.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot build challenges and adjust to last-minute changes in fast-moving schedules.
- Follow all safety protocols and report any hazards or equipment issues immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Carpentry, Woodwork, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a closely related field is highly regarded but not mandatory.
- Previous hands-on experience in fabrication, carpentry, event production, or décor installation – typically 1-2 years – is preferred.
- Competent and confident using common hand and power tools (e.g., circular saw, jigsaw, drill, sander) with a strong safety mindset.
- Physically fit enough to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials (up to 25 kg), and work at heights or in varied weather conditions during outdoor installations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a focus on delivering finished work that meets quality, dimensional, and finish specifications.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure while adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong team player with clear verbal communication skills for coordinating with supervisors and peers.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by event schedules and tight deadlines.
