Role Overview
This position is responsible for safeguarding product integrity across agricultural operations that combine horticultural crops with beekeeping outputs. Day to day, the role involves verifying that raw inputs, in-process materials, and finished goods meet defined specifications, while also identifying risks early enough to prevent costly rejections or safety issues. The work directly supports the employer's ability to deliver consistent, compliant products from farm-level sourcing through processing, storage, and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate incoming raw materials, harvested produce, processed items, packaging components, and final goods against established quality criteria.
- Conduct ongoing checks throughout production, handling, storage, and distribution to catch deviations before they escalate.
- Perform inspections, log findings, and flag defects, irregularities, and non-conformities to the appropriate teams.
- Verify that corrective and preventive actions are implemented and effective in resolving quality issues.
- Apply quality standards specifically to horticultural and beekeeping operations, covering herbs, honey, and other agricultural outputs.
- Oversee handling, storage, transport, hygiene, and sanitation practices to protect product integrity.
- Maintain inspection records, compliance documentation, and quality reports for both internal use and audits.
- Support internal and external audits, prepare reporting, and reinforce staff adherence to quality protocols.
- Investigate quality complaints and recommend improvements to reduce recurring problems.
- Coordinate with production, processing, agricultural, and management stakeholders to provide practical guidance on quality, hygiene, and product handling.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Quality Management, Food Technology, Agribusiness, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years concentrated in agriculture, specifically horticulture or beekeeping.
- Hands-on background in quality control, quality assurance, food production, or agricultural production environments.
- Solid working knowledge of inspection methods, quality procedures, and industry standards.
- Familiarity with agricultural or food processing settings, particularly value-added products, is a distinct advantage.
- Proven ability to document findings clearly, prepare accurate reports, and maintain meticulous records.
- Comfort operating in field conditions and remote operational sites.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving orientation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the interpersonal skills needed to advise multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated integrity, independence, and commitment to compliance and continuous quality improvement.
