Role Overview
This role places you at the heart of a fast-paced food manufacturing plant in Ukunda, where you will take ownership of daily production shifts and the teams that run them. Your focus will be on turning production plans into reality while safeguarding product quality, worker safety, and operational efficiency. By monitoring line performance and addressing issues as they arise, you will directly contribute to a stable supply of high-quality, sustainably sourced consumer food products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate production teams across assigned shifts, ensuring clear task allocation and consistent adherence to production schedules.
- Plan shift rosters, line setups, and resource deployment to meet output targets without compromising quality or safety.
- Monitor production output in real time, comparing actual performance against targets and taking corrective action when gaps appear.
- Enforce quality standards at every stage of processing, from raw material handling to finished product release, in line with food safety requirements.
- Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, equipment inefficiencies, and process waste to improve overall plant throughput.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure all team members follow workplace health and safety protocols, reporting hazards immediately.
- Maintain accurate production records, shift reports, and handover documentation to support continuous improvement and traceability.
- Coach, motivate, and develop production staff, addressing performance issues and fostering a culture of accountability.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Production Management, Engineering, Food Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- 3–5 years of hands-on supervisory experience in a factory or manufacturing environment, with direct responsibility for shift-based teams.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing is strongly preferred, particularly in roles involving hygiene, quality, or food safety systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, resolve conflicts, and make sound decisions under production pressure.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to diagnose root causes of downtime or quality deviations quickly.
- Solid working knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and their practical application on the plant floor.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with proficiency in maintaining production documentation and shift records.
