Product Designer (UX/UI) – Africa Team
We are looking for a Product Designer (UX/UI) to join our Africa team. You will own the design of our customer-facing apps and internal tools and work closely with the product team on research and documentation. This is a hands-on role – you will design real screens used by customers and field agents across East Africa.
What You Will Do
Customer App
- Own the end-to-end design of the Customer App across iOS and Android, from onboarding flows to repayment screens and self-service features
- Design new features and iterate existing ones based on user feedback, analytics, and product priorities
- Maintain visual consistency across all app screens using a shared component library in Figma
- Work closely with developers during handoff to make sure designs are implemented as intended
Sales App
- Design and maintain the Sales App used by our field agents to onboard customers and process loan applications
- Simplify complex multi-step workflows into clear, fast-to-use interfaces for agents working in the field
- Identify usability issues through agent feedback and shadow sessions, and translate findings into design improvements
- Coordinate with the product and operations teams to ensure the app reflects the actual sales process in each market
ERP Internal Tools
- Design internal pages and tools within our ERP system used by operations, collections, and customer service teams
- Improve the usability of existing ERP screens – reduce clicks, surface the right information, and make workflows more intuitive
- Work with internal stakeholders to understand their day-to-day tasks and translate them into clear interface requirements
Documentation & Customer Research
- Create and maintain design documentation – user flows, specs, and handoff notes that developers can work from without back-and-forth
- Plan and run customer research together with the product team – interviews, usability tests, and field observations
- Synthesise research findings into clear insights and feed them directly into design decisions
- Maintain a shared record of what we have learned from customers so knowledge is not lost between projects
What You Will Need
Minimum Academic Qualifications
- A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience as a product designer
- A university degree in a related field
Key Competencies
- User empathy and customer-centric thinking
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and strong visual design skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Collaboration and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Passion for creating simple, accessible, and impactful financial products
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, user research, wireframing, and high-fidelity UI design will be an added advantage
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to create clear design documentation, specifications, and user flows
Benefits
Feel Good
- A friendly and dynamic work environment
- An excellent well-being program: Health insurance (after probation period) and Pension scheme (after probation period)
- Active social life and events
Win
- Fast results without the friction of bureaucracy
- Great victories due to the transparency of the company and its goals
- Bonuses and awards for the great work
- Participate in victory celebrations with your co-workers
