Job Title: Maritime Instructor – Nautical Science
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced maritime professional to join our faculty as a Nautical Science Instructor. In this role, you will deliver academic and practical training to cadets, ensuring alignment with international standards and preparing students for successful careers at sea.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nautical Science, Marine Navigation, or a related field.
- Certifications: Certificate of Competency (CoC) as an Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch (STCW II/1), Master Mariner, or Chief Mate (STCW II/2).
- Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years’ sea service. Prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with IMO Model Courses and STCW requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach courses in navigation, ship stability, meteorology, cargo handling, and maritime law.
- Deliver practical training in bridge simulation, chart work, and voyage planning.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW standards.
- Mentor and guide cadets in academic and professional development.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Support students in preparation for certification exams and onboard training.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the nautical science curriculum.
- Integrate emerging technologies and industry practices into training modules.
- Ensure training programs meet national and international maritime education standards.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
- Work closely with other trainers, academic staff, and industry partners.
- Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and professional development activities.
