Role Overview
As Senior Procurement Officer, you will own the strategic sourcing agenda for a multi-site organisation, translating business goals into procurement plans that hit the right balance of cost, quality, and delivery reliability. Day to day, you will shape category strategies, negotiate high-value contracts with suppliers, and drive eProcurement adoption while keeping policies, budgets, and compliance tightly aligned. This role matters because procurement is a direct lever on project margins and delivery timelines; your decisions shape whether operational teams get the materials and services they need, when they need them, at terms that protect the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and embed procurement strategies that support group-wide operational and financial objectives, covering supplier selection, evaluation, rationalisation, and terms and conditions.
- Lead negotiations with key suppliers at a senior level, structuring deals that secure value for money, quality, and delivery performance while drawing on technical and operational input from internal stakeholders.
- Build and maintain the annual procurement budget and rolling forecasts, contributing procurement insight into the wider business planning and budgeting cycle.
- Own the procurement policy framework, guidelines, and supporting documentation, and enforce compliance across the organisation.
- Champion eProcurement tools and continuous process improvement, removing bottlenecks and raising the efficiency of requisition-to-payment workflows.
- Develop a competitive vendor base by tapping global markets, leveraging group spending, and partnering with reliable suppliers who strengthen the organisation's competitive position.
- Run supplier relationship and performance evaluation programmes, tracking compliance, service levels, and opportunities for cost reduction or value addition.
- Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports to build a high-performing procurement team that delivers ongoing improvement, and maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor market and pricing trends, communicate the supply-side impact of market shifts to stakeholders, and recommend mitigation strategies or alternative solutions without sacrificing quality or service.
- Ensure the procurement function operates in line with health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 7–10 years' experience across sourcing, procurement, and contracts, including at least 3 years in a management or team leadership position.
- A professional qualification or diploma in Supply Chain Management, such as CIPS.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of closing complex supply agreements.
- A genuine commitment to operational excellence and process improvement, with the ability to drive efficiency and effectiveness across procurement workflows.
- Experience sourcing construction or building materials is an advantage.
- Prior experience in the construction industry or within a multinational company is an added advantage.
