Job Description

Role Overview

This position is central to the safe and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical care within a healthcare facility. The role holder will prepare and supply medications, verify prescription details, and guide patients on proper usage, all while working within the regulatory framework set by national pharmacy authorities. Your daily attention to detail and adherence to professional standards will directly support patient safety, treatment effectiveness, and the smooth running of the pharmacy department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and completeness before dispensing any medication.
  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medicines in accordance with established protocols and legal requirements.
  • Counsel patients and caregivers on correct dosage, storage, possible side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Maintain accurate records of dispensed drugs, controlled substances, and patient medication profiles.
  • Monitor and manage pharmacy inventory, including stock ordering, expiry checks, and proper storage conditions.
  • Collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff to clarify prescriptions and resolve medication-related issues.
  • Ensure the pharmacy environment, equipment, and workflows comply with hygiene, safety, and pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement by identifying and reporting medication errors or supply concerns.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Degree in Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
  • At least one year of post-internship working experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
  • Full registration and a valid practicing license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially in Health Management Information Systems and pharmacy software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently when required and under pharmacist supervision in other situations, with sound judgment and ethical conduct.
