Role Overview
This is a phone-led sales position within a pharmacy business: most of the working day is spent on calls with existing customers and new prospects, presenting product ranges, answering questions and converting interest into confirmed orders. The person in this seat is the human link between the pharmacy's product shelf and the customers who buy remotely, so the calls they make and the records they keep directly shape revenue and repeat business.
The work rewards someone who is comfortable both selling and coordinating — persuading a hesitant buyer on one call, then making sure the order they placed actually reaches them on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Work through a daily call list of established accounts and cold or warm prospects, introducing pharmacy product lines, handling objections and closing orders over the phone.
- Pick up inbound calls and enquiries, qualify what the customer actually needs, and turn genuine buying interest into a completed order instead of a lost lead.
- Explain product usage, benefits, storage and dosage information accurately, and route anything requiring clinical judgement to a pharmacist rather than answering beyond scope.
- Grow order value by suggesting complementary or better-suited items that fit the customer's stated need, not simply what is easiest to push.
- Enter orders correctly into the system, confirm quantities, pricing and delivery details, then hand off to the pharmacy team for picking, packing and dispatch.
- Chase open orders and deliveries proactively so customers are not the ones calling in to ask where their shipment is.
- Keep the customer and prospect database current, logging call outcomes, buying preferences and reorder timing so future outreach is informed rather than random.
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly sales reports against target, and feed back patterns noticed on calls — shifting demand, recurring complaints, competitor pricing — to the wider team.
- Handle customer concerns directly where possible, escalate the rest, and stay within pharmacy regulations, ethical selling standards and patient confidentiality rules at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Marketing or a closely related field.
- Experience: Two to three years in telesales, pharmaceutical sales or a customer service role with a sales element.
- Product grounding: Working knowledge of pharmaceutical products and the regulations governing their sale is strongly preferred.
- Phone-based background: Prior experience in a call centre, client-facing desk or similar remote-selling environment is a plus.
- Selling skills: A persuasive, confident telephone manner with demonstrable negotiation ability and comfort discussing price and value.
- Process skills: Competence with order processing and tracking, plus the ability to write up and present sales reports clearly.
- Personal qualities: Target-driven, resilient under pressure, well organised, and trustworthy with confidential customer and patient information.
Why Join This Role
- You own a measurable number: performance is tracked against clear sales targets, so effort and results are visible rather than buried in a team average.
- You build a book of relationships over time — this is account-style selling where consistent follow-up turns one-off buyers into regular customers.
- You work alongside a pharmacy team, which means real exposure to product knowledge and regulated practice rather than selling in isolation.
- You get direct customer feedback and market signals, and a route to influence the wider sales and marketing approach based on what you hear on calls.
