Part-time Lecturer - Business Modelling & Analytics

Role Overview

This position combines classroom teaching with an active research and consulting agenda in the field of data science and analytics. The successful candidate will design and deliver courses across undergraduate and postgraduate levels, while also producing refereed publications, pursuing grant funding and contributing to consultancy work that keeps the curriculum aligned with current industry practice. The role matters because it directly shapes how the next generation of analysts and data professionals is trained, and because the research and external engagement it generates strengthen the department's academic standing and its links with industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach courses and modules assigned by the Head of Department, covering both theoretical foundations and applied analytics content.
• Design, plan and deliver new and existing programmes of study, including courses at different academic levels.
• Run high-quality lectures and practical sessions, ensuring students gain hands-on competence with tools used in professional analytics environments.
• Review course content and teaching materials on a regular cycle, revising them to reflect evolving industry standards, tools and techniques.
• Work with academic colleagues on curriculum redesign, course development and the growth of the department's research portfolio.
• Conduct original research, prepare and submit research grant proposals, and pursue consultancy engagements with external organisations.
• Present research findings at national and international conferences and disseminate outputs through appropriate academic and professional channels.
• Provide mentorship, academic supervision and career guidance to students and junior colleagues.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by supervisors or detailed in the full job description.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics or Information Technology from a recognised and accredited university, together with a Master's degree in one of the same fields from a recognised and accredited institution.
• Technical skills: Demonstrated proficiency in Python, SQL and Power BI.
• Industry exposure: Practical experience applying analytics in a commercial, industrial or comparable professional setting.
• Research track record: A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) must come from refereed journal articles.
• Experience: At least three (3) years of post-qualification work experience.
• Professional standing: Registration with a relevant professional body.
• Currency: Evidence of staying up to date with current industry standards, tools and practices in analytics.
