Role Overview
This role owns the day-to-day management of all manufacturing and production operations, ensuring smooth workflow from raw materials through to finished goods. You will lead teams across production, maintenance, and warehousing to hit output targets while controlling costs, maintaining quality, and enforcing safety standards. Your strategic focus on continuous improvement and resource optimisation directly supports the company's delivery commitments and long-term operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct production supervisors, maintenance crews, and warehouse staff to maintain consistent workflows and quickly resolve bottlenecks.
- Implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce waste, improve throughput, and drive cost efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and material flow to prevent shortages, overstock, and production delays.
- Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise unplanned downtime.
- Prepare operational dashboards and analyse production data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support strategic planning.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, finance, and logistics to align production plans with customer demand and budget constraints.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all production areas.
- Mentor departmental supervisors and frontline staff, building a culture of accountability and continuous skill development.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a closely related field.
- Minimum seven years of hands-on experience in manufacturing operations, with at least three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Proven track record of leading production teams and managing factory floor operations end-to-end.
- Strong, demonstrable knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Solid understanding of quality management systems and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001).
- MBA or relevant professional qualification (e.g., CPIM, CQE) is a strong plus.
- Excellent leadership, strategic planning, data analysis, and decision-making skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
