Software QA Engineer

Role Overview

You will join a global software company that builds security policy management products for enterprise IT teams, helping them automate and monitor firewall rules, cloud security, and broader network access. In this role, you will split your time between hands-on manual testing and writing automated checks across UI, API, and backend layers, working alongside developers and product managers to spot edge cases and verify fixes early. This is a growth-oriented position for a junior engineer with solid coding basics who is serious about quality assurance and wants to move toward a technical QA automation career within an international engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and maintain both automated and manual test cases covering UI, API, and backend functionality.
• Support and improve existing test automation frameworks, including integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Reproduce defects, document them clearly with relevant details, and track progress using Jira.
• Work with developers and product managers throughout the development cycle to understand requirements and raise edge cases before implementation.
• Monitor test runs, triage failures, and keep test documentation accurate and current.
• Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives, providing clear updates on risks and blockers.
• Build practical familiarity with network security concepts like firewalls, access policies, and security rule management.
• Communicate testing progress and quality concerns proactively, while continuously sharpening your technical and QA skills through feedback and hands-on practice.

Requirements & Qualifications

Must-Have

• Strong programming fundamentals in Java or Python, with 1–2 years of hands-on coding experience.
• A genuine interest in software testing and QA as a career path, not just a temporary role.
• A structured, detail-oriented QA mindset with the ability to anticipate edge cases and follow complex scenarios systematically.
• Solid problem-solving skills and comfort digging into unfamiliar technical issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain bugs, test results, and risks clearly.
• High motivation, coachability, and a track record of learning quickly in technical environments.
• The ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product managers, and remote team members across time zones.

Nice-to-Have

• Background in networking or IT, especially exposure to firewalls or firewall rule concepts.
• Previous experience with QA, software testing, or test automation.
• Hands-on experience testing APIs, backend systems, or web applications.
• Familiarity with Jira or other issue-tracking tools.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines or running automated test suites.
