Job Description

Role Overview

This position is for a Nurse Tutor who delivers theoretical and clinical instruction in oncology and paediatric oncology nursing. You will prepare lesson plans, conduct classroom sessions, and guide students during hands-on clinical placements. Your work directly shapes the next generation of skilled oncology nurses, ensuring they meet the competency standards required for safe, compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical demonstrations in oncology and paediatric oncology nursing courses.
  • Assess student progress through written exams, clinical evaluations, and competency checklists.
  • Develop and update curriculum materials to align with current evidence-based oncology nursing practices.
  • Supervise students during clinical rotations in hospital oncology wards and paediatric units, providing real-time feedback.
  • Mentor and counsel students on professional conduct, study techniques, and career pathways in nursing.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members on interdisciplinary teaching activities and academic scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate student records, examination results, and attendance logs in line with institutional policies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum review committees, and accreditation preparation activities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a recognized institution.
  • Higher National Diploma in Oncology Nursing or Paediatric Oncology Nursing (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of verifiable working experience as a Nurse Tutor or nursing instructor.
  • Certification as a TVET instructor is highly desirable and an added advantage.
  • A certificate in any Paediatric Resuscitation skills (e.g., PALS, APLS, or equivalent) will be considered an added advantage.
  • Current valid Nursing Council of Kenya practice license.
  • Original Nursing Council of Kenya Registration Certificate.
