Job Description

Role Overview

As a Nurse Tutor at our Nairobi campus, you will deliver theoretical and practical instruction to students enrolled in Nursing and Health Science programmes, ensuring they acquire the competencies required for clinical practice and licensure. Your daily work involves lesson planning, conducting lectures and simulations, assessing student performance, and supporting learners through mentorship. This role is vital to producing skilled, compassionate nursing professionals who meet Kenya’s healthcare demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lectures and tutorials in nursing and health science subjects aligned with the prescribed curriculum
  • Demonstrate clinical procedures and supervise students during practical sessions in simulation labs or affiliated healthcare settings
  • Develop and update course materials, including lesson notes, case studies, and assessment tools, to reflect current nursing standards
  • Assess and evaluate student progress through written examinations, practical tests, and continuous assessments, providing constructive feedback
  • Guide and counsel students on academic progress, professional conduct, and career pathways in nursing
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance registers, and academic reports as required by the college and regulatory bodies
  • Participate in curriculum review and departmental meetings to enhance teaching quality and programme relevance
  • Stay current with nursing education practices, NCK guidelines, and national health policies to ensure programme compliance

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution
  • Valid registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and an up-to-date practising licence
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience or teaching experience in a recognised institution
  • TVETA Trainer Licence is preferred; candidates pursuing it will be considered
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a classroom and engage diverse groups of learners effectively
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for lesson preparation and record-keeping
