Role Overview
This field-based role places you inside retail stores, salons, and beauty supply outlets across Nakuru, where you will make sure hair care and personal care products are visible, well-stocked, and presented exactly to brand standards. You will work between store staff and the sales team, handling everything from shelf arrangements to stock checks, and your efforts directly influence how well these brands sell against competitors on the shop floor. With five openings, the position suits someone who enjoys independent daily travel and takes pride in turning a simple shelf into a compelling brand display.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain product displays, promotional stands, and end-cap units in assigned outlets, following brand-specific visual guidelines.
- Organise and tidy shelf sections so that hair and beauty products are easy to spot, reach, and purchase for customers.
- Audit stock levels on every visit, note low-stock or missing items, and communicate replenishment needs to the sales team or warehouse dispatch.
- Rotate stock using the first-in, first-out method to reduce waste, and alert managers to products nearing their expiry date.
- Check that price labels, promotional stickers, and barcodes match the correct products and are clearly displayed.
- Build relationships with store managers and salon owners, negotiating shelf space and gaining their support for brand promotions.
- Track what competing brands are doing in terms of pricing, new launches, and display tactics, then report these observations to your supervisor.
- Prepare daily and weekly visit reports that include stock availability, display execution, and photos of your completed work.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A certificate or diploma in sales, marketing, business administration, or a related commercial field.
- At least two years of hands-on merchandising, trade marketing, or retail sales support experience.
- Prior work with cosmetics, beauty products, hair care lines, or general FMCG brands is strongly preferred.
- Practical understanding of planograms, shelf space allocation, stock rotation, and store-level inventory processes.
- Ability to travel daily across Nakuru and nearby retail hubs using public or private transport.
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding shelf order, colour coordination, cleanliness, and correct product positioning.
- Good communication skills and the confidence to negotiate with store managers and interact with shop attendants and salon staff.
- Physical capability to carry promotional materials and handle product stacking during store visits.
