Job Description

Role Overview

This is a senior clinical leadership position within a healthcare facility, responsible for directing medical services and ensuring that patient care meets the highest professional and ethical standards. The role involves day-to-day oversight of clinical departments, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and implementation of quality assurance initiatives that safeguard patient outcomes. You will serve as the bridge between hospital administration and medical staff, driving operational efficiency while maintaining regulatory compliance and professional integrity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership to clinical departments, ensuring alignment with the facility's mission and healthcare objectives.
  • Oversee the delivery of inpatient and outpatient services, monitoring clinical performance and patient safety across all units.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise medical officers and support staff, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient management, timely consultations, and effective care transitions.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs, including clinical audits, infection control protocols, and adherence to evidence-based guidelines.
  • Manage crisis and emergency situations, including mass casualty incidents and sudden clinical deterioration, with clear decision-making and resource mobilization.
  • Ensure compliance with national health regulations, licensing requirements, and institutional policies, maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with administration on budgeting, staffing, procurement, and capacity planning to support sustainable service delivery.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB/MD) from a recognized institution.
  • Valid registration and practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Formal training in Healthcare Management or Quality Assurance is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams with strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical abilities, with unwavering professional integrity and commitment to patient-centered care.
