Job Description

Role Overview

This is a field-based commercial role for someone who is comfortable spending most of the working week on the move across Nairobi's clinics, chemists and hospital procurement desks. You will own a defined route stretching out from Baba Dogo, using face-to-face detailing conversations to turn interest into repeat orders for the company's pharmaceutical and medical supplies portfolio. The position sits at the front line of the business: what you learn from prescribers, pharmacy owners and stock controllers directly shapes how the sales team plans its next quarter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run structured call cycles across hospitals, private clinics, retail chemists and health centres within the assigned Nairobi zones, ensuring each account is seen on a predictable schedule.
  • Build and update a territory plan that identifies untapped outlets, prioritises high-potential accounts and sets out how monthly, quarterly and annual volume targets will be met.
  • Present product indications, dosing, features and clinical advantages to doctors, pharmacists, clinical officers, nurses and procurement staff, adapting the depth of the discussion to each audience.
  • Check stock levels at customer premises, prompt reorders before shelves run dry and work to grow the value of each account over time.
  • Keep technical command of the full product range and stay current on treatment trends and competitor activity in the Nairobi market.
  • Respond to clinical and technical questions from clients, supply supporting literature and route complex medical queries to the internal specialist team.
  • Gather intelligence on competitor pricing, new product entries, unmet customer needs and purchasing preferences, and report findings back to management.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer databases, call histories and orders, and submit daily visit logs, weekly progress updates and monthly revenue reports.
  • Resolve delivery and product complaints quickly, and coordinate with warehouse, dispatch and finance colleagues to confirm fulfilment, tracking and payment collection.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, medical sciences, nursing or a closely related discipline.
  • At least two years of hands-on sales experience detailing pharmaceutical or medical supply products in a target-driven environment.
  • Practical familiarity with Nairobi's pharmaceutical distribution landscape, including key health centres and retail chemist networks.
  • Demonstrated record of hitting sales targets through route planning, cold calling and sustained account relationship building.
  • Strong verbal presentation and negotiation ability, with the interpersonal confidence to deal with both clinical and commercial decision-makers.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, plus comfort using sales reporting or CRM-style tools.
  • Self-directed and organised, with the discipline to manage a field diary independently and report reliably on activity.

What We Offer

  • A full-time field sales position based in Baba Dogo, Nairobi, covering an assigned territory across the city.
  • Monthly gross salary of KSh 30,000.
  • Direct reporting line to the Sales Manager, with visibility of your territory results at leadership level.
  • Ownership of a customer portfolio where relationship-building and market insight are actively used to shape commercial decisions.
