Mechanical Technician

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Technician with Buen, you will be the hands-on specialist ensuring that industrial machinery and plant equipment remain operational around the clock. Your daily work involves inspecting, servicing, and repairing mechanical systems to prevent unplanned downtime and maintain production flow. This role directly supports the company’s reliability targets by combining technical precision with a proactive approach to equipment health.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance routines on conveyors, pumps, compressors, and other processing machinery.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns, rapidly diagnose mechanical faults, and perform on-site repairs to restore full functionality.
• Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals to guide installation and repair work.
• Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment history to support planning and compliance.
• Carry out welding, fabrication, and metalwork tasks as needed for structural repairs or custom modifications.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including valve servicing, cylinder replacement, and leak detection.
• Contribute to root-cause analysis of recurring failures and suggest design or procedure improvements to reduce future issues.
• Assist in spare parts inventory management, identifying critical spares and flagging low-stock items.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Minimum five years of hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proven competency in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, welding, and metal fabrication.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment layouts.
• Strong analytical troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to fault isolation.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and respond to emergency call-outs outside normal hours.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance methodologies and documentation standards.
• Basic proficiency in AutoCAD for reviewing or redlining mechanical layouts is an advantage.
