Mathematics Teacher

Role Overview

You will take charge of a classroom within a Kenyan school that has fully adopted the Competency Based Curriculum, delivering engaging lessons in English, Kiswahili, or Mathematics depending on your area of specialisation. Your daily work involves planning and facilitating learning experiences that move beyond rote memorisation, assessing each learner's progress against CBC outcomes, and working closely with parents and colleagues to ensure every student develops both academically and personally. This role matters because your teaching directly shapes how well learners acquire core competencies and values that prepare them for the next stage of their education.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver CBC-aligned lessons in your specialised subject area, using a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning needs.
• Develop and adapt learning materials, including digital and hands-on resources, that make lessons interactive and relevant to learners' everyday lives.
• Assess learners continuously through formative and summative evaluations, maintaining accurate records of achievement and developmental progress.
• Implement effective classroom management techniques that create a safe, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
• Identify learners who require additional support or enrichment, and design individualised interventions or extension activities as needed.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about learner performance, behaviour, and overall wellbeing through meetings, reports, and school communication channels.
• Collaborate with fellow teachers in departmental and school-wide planning, including cross-curricular projects and co-curricular activities.
• Participate in professional development sessions, school events, and committee responsibilities as required by the school's academic calendar.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Education, with a teaching specialisation in English, Kiswahili, or Mathematics.
• A minimum of four years of teaching experience, with a proven track record of delivering quality instruction at the relevant grade level.
• Thorough knowledge of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC), including its assessment guidelines, learning areas, and formative reporting expectations.
• Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain positive learner discipline and engagement throughout lessons.
• Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English, and for Kiswahili specialists, full proficiency in the Kiswahili language.
• Demonstrated ability to engage learners using active, learner-centred pedagogical approaches that align with CBC values.
• Familiarity with digital teaching tools and the ability to integrate technology into lesson delivery is an added advantage.
