Job Summary
We are seeking a highly disciplined, execution-focused Logistics Officer to anchor the fleet coordination, asset routing, and dispatch operations for our client through Powervision. Your primary objective will be to maximize fleet utilization, slash delivery lead times, and coordinate driver pools with absolute precision. This position bridges complex transport planning with real-time field supervision; you will oversee daily vehicle loading schedules, run rigorous fuel compliance audits, and map out optimal transit corridors across the region. The role demands a veteran transport professional who possesses deep supply chain intuition, manages team execution seamlessly under high pressure, and takes absolute pride in building zero-delay distribution networks.
Core Competencies
Fleet Administration & Route Optimization
- Oversee the daily deployment, transit schedules, and assignment distributions for a high-volume commercial vehicle fleet.
- Map out multi-stop delivery routes using real-time traffic data and terrain assessments to cut fuel spend and reduce vehicle tear.
- Track active field transits through GPS monitoring portals, delivering immediate rerouting instructions to bypass highway bottlenecks.
- Review mechanical logs across corporate assets, setting preventative maintenance windows to prevent vehicle downtime.
Driver Supervision & Performance Auditing
- Manage the field schedules, rest cycles, and route allocations for our distribution team and long-haul drivers.
- Conduct regular morning briefing sessions covering cargo security protocols, load anchoring, and defensive driving regulations.
- Audit driver trip logs, fuel cards, and travel receipts thoroughly to weed out financial leaks or unscheduled truck deviations.
- Coordinate incident resolution workflows for road emergencies, mechanical stalls, or cargo inspections to keep shipments moving.
Supply Chain Alignment & Asset Balancing
- Coordinate closely with warehouse supervisors to verify that cargo assembly mirrors the physical load capacity of inbound trucks.
- Check shipping manifests, customs paperwork, and delivery notes carefully before letting trucks leave the terminal gates.
- Track client return loops and empty container returns to minimize empty-leg mileage and maximize fleet yield.
- Monitor key transport performance indicators (KPIs), highlighting distribution costs and turnaround speeds for management review.
Safety Compliance & Quality Enforcement
- Enforce absolute alignment with national traffic laws, axle-load regulations, and occupational safety frameworks across all operations.
- Keep exact licensing, insurance premium, and commercial inspection records updated for every vehicle in the corporate fleet.
- Investigate delivery shortages, damaged cargo dispatches, or road fender-benders, writing objective remediation briefs.
- Maintain an organized digital archive storing asset performance logs, trip checklists, and historical repair documentation.
Skills & Experience Required
Minimum Entry Criteria
- Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related commercial operations field from a recognized university.
- Professional Longevity: Minimum of 7 years of progressive, hands-on experience explicitly navigating logistics coordination, driver management, and commercial fleet operations.
- Software Competence: Solid structural capability utilizing Microsoft Office suites – specifically structuring logistics grids in Microsoft Excel and compiling reports in Word.
- Administrative Grounding: Deep familiarity with vehicle diagnostic schedules, fuel logging architectures, and local municipal transit bylaws.
Leadership & Behavioral Traits
- Command Fluency: Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to direct, motivate, and maintain high discipline among field drivers.
- Analytical Resolution: Fast-acting problem solver capable of adjusting complex dispatch chains instantly when facing erratic bottlenecks.
- Absolute Accountability: Uncompromising professional integrity with a keen attention to technical detail and asset security.
What We Offer
- Process Ownership: Take full executive command of a major active fleet, holding the direct authority to engineer smart, cost-saving distribution frameworks.
- Industrial Exposure: Broaden your professional portfolio by navigating multi-layered supply chains, heavy transit networks, and scalable corporate logistics systems.
- Strategic Location: Operate out of a highly accessible corporate node along the Kiambu Road corridor in Nairobi, connected to key distribution highways.
