Job Description

Role Overview

This General Manager position places you in charge of a transport, logistics, and distribution operation based in Kirigiti, Kiambu, reporting directly to the Board or Chief Executive Officer. Your daily work combines commercial planning with hands-on operational leadership: you will drive revenue growth, coordinate fleet and warehouse activity, keep stock records accurate, and align sales, dispatch, and administrative teams toward shared targets. The role matters because it connects business strategy to ground-level execution, ensuring that goods move efficiently, clients remain satisfied, and costs stay under control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute growth-oriented business plans that expand market reach, increase sales volume, and improve gross margins across the region.
  • Manage the full commercial pipeline by setting sales targets, supporting client acquisition, and building retention strategies for existing accounts.
  • Oversee daily transport operations including route planning, dispatching, fleet utilization, and vehicle maintenance to ensure on-time deliveries and controlled fuel costs.
  • Implement and maintain strict inventory control procedures to track stock movement, identify shrinkage, prevent cargo loss, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Supervise warehouse handling, storage standards, and safety compliance so all product lines are protected and organized.
  • Lead and mentor department heads and staff across sales, logistics, and administration, setting performance benchmarks and conducting appraisals.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and freight pricing to adjust service positioning and strengthen commercial partnerships with key clients and suppliers.
  • Prepare monthly reports covering financials, inventory status, sales results, and operational performance for board review.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in commercial operations, sales management, distribution, or logistics administration.
  • Strong background in transport, logistics, shipping, distribution, or FMCG sectors, with demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets and enforce inventory accountability.
  • Proven leadership experience supervising cross-functional teams and coordinating multiple departments simultaneously.
  • Solid understanding of fleet logistics, stock auditing, warehouse workflows, and route optimization.
  • Commercial skills including negotiation, revenue forecasting, and strategic planning, plus financial acumen to interpret margin reports and control costs.
  • Availability to work on-site in Kirigiti, Kiambu, and manage daily physical operations.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Full administrative and operational leadership of a regional transport and logistics hub, with direct exposure to end-to-end supply chain execution.
  • Opportunity to shape commercial strategy and business development while reporting directly to the Board or CEO.
  • Monthly gross salary of Kshs. 20,000.
