Part-Time Academic Positions – Area of Specialization
Job Description
Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) invites applications for part-time academic positions in various areas of specialization. Successful candidates will contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in accordance with the University’s curriculum and quality standards.
- Prepare, update, and enhance learning and teaching materials to support effective content delivery and achievement of course objectives.
- Deliver course content through lectures, seminars, and other instructional methods, ensuring alignment with curriculum objectives.
- Evaluate teaching delivery models and implement appropriate improvements to maintain and enhance teaching quality and student learning outcomes.
- Interpret the curriculum, synthesize content, and effectively disseminate knowledge to learners.
- Set, moderate, invigilate, and mark examinations and assessments in accordance with University policies.
- Conduct needs assessments for curriculum and identify content gaps to produce competent graduates who meet industry and academic standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A PhD or Master’s degree qualification in a relevant field from a recognized academic institution.
- Extensive teaching or industry experience at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.
- Must have served as a Lecturer or possess equivalent industry experience in a university or institution recognized by the Senate of JOOUST.
- Demonstrated potential for university teaching and/or research.
- At least two (2) years of teaching experience in a university setting.
- Master’s degree holders who are registered for a PhD may be considered.
- Registration with the relevant professional body as required by the field of specialization.

- Copies of relevant academic and professional certificates.

- Testimonials and other relevant supporting documents.
