Job Description
Role Overview
This position invites an ambitious academic to join a forward-looking university department, where teaching, research, and community impact go hand in hand. Day to day, you will deliver lectures and practical sessions, shape course content, and mentor students, while also building a research portfolio that feeds into the institution's wider strategic goals. Your work will directly influence the quality of graduate outcomes and the university’s reputation as a hub of scholarship and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and field-based teaching across assigned undergraduate and postgraduate units in your specialist area.
- Design and refresh course materials, syllabi, and assessment strategies, ensuring content stays current with developments in the discipline and meets accreditation standards.
- Contribute to new programme development and periodic curriculum reviews, working alongside colleagues to strengthen the overall academic offering.
- Lead and participate in research projects, preparing competitive grant applications and pursuing consultancy opportunities that advance both scholarly knowledge and societal needs.
- Present findings at academic conferences, symposia, and professional workshops, and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals and other recognised scholarly outlets.
- Provide academic advising, career guidance, and structured mentorship to students and early-career staff, supporting their professional growth and wellbeing.
- Serve on departmental, faculty, and university committees, and engage in initiatives that promote inclusive teaching, research ethics, and community outreach.
- Undertake additional duties assigned by the Head of Department or delegated supervisors, contributing flexibly to the smooth running of academic operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in a discipline directly relevant to the teaching areas advertised, obtained from a recognised and accredited university.
- Evidence of university-level teaching experience, including demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality instruction to diverse student groups at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- A solid track record of research productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or active involvement in funded research projects.
- Registration with, or clear eligibility for registration with, the relevant professional body where applicable to the discipline.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering a student-centred, inclusive, and ethically grounded learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within academic teams, while also showing initiative and self-direction in managing teaching, research, and administrative responsibilities.
