Role Overview
You will serve as the technical backbone for projects that span renewable energy generation, power distribution, and smart metering infrastructure. Your work will directly support engineering, sales, and project teams by translating client needs into practical design solutions, and by providing hands-on expertise from the first site assessment through to final commissioning and troubleshooting.
This role matters because it ensures that technical proposals are accurate, installations are completed to specification, and clients receive clear, reliable support whenever issues arise. You will be the person who keeps the project moving forward by aligning design intent with real-world field conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed bill of quantities (BOQs), technical proposals, engineering drawings, and schematics for renewable energy and power distribution projects.
- Conduct site surveys to assess existing electrical infrastructure, gather technical data, and support feasibility studies for proposed installations.
- Provide technical support to sales and project teams during client meetings, clarifications, and design reviews to ensure requirements are properly captured and addressed.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of transformers, switchboards, LV boards, and smart metering systems to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and performance issues on installed equipment, recommending and implementing corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test reports, as-built drawings, operation manuals, and maintenance guidelines for client handover.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining engineering quality and regulatory compliance.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a recognised institution.
- 2–4 years of active, verifiable experience working in renewable energy projects or power plants, with hands-on exposure to electrical equipment and systems.
- Valid EPRA Class C1 licence, with a clean record and the ability to operate field equipment where required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or electrical simulation tools, with the ability to produce clear, accurate drawings and one-line diagrams.
- Demonstrated experience developing BOQs, technical proposals, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics for project execution.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured reports, manuals, and specifications for diverse audiences.
- Practical understanding of transformers, switchboards, LV boards, smart metering systems, and associated protection and control schemes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge engineering, sales, and client perspectives effectively.
