Role Overview
This post is for a junior secondary educator who will take charge of instruction in Mathematics, Pre-Technical Studies, and Integrated Science under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). Day to day, the teacher designs and delivers lessons that move beyond theory, using hands-on activities and real-world applications to build learners' analytical and practical skills. The role also carries a leadership dimension, with the teacher guiding students beyond the classroom, coordinating departmental work when asked, and helping shape a school culture that prioritises both academic performance and character formation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver structured, engaging lessons in Mathematics, Pre-Technical Studies, and Integrated Science that align with CBC guidelines and learning outcomes.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assessments, and supplementary learning materials that support differentiated instruction and learner progress.
- Continuously assess student performance through formative and summative evaluations, and offer constructive, timely feedback to help each learner improve.
- Build a classroom atmosphere that is inclusive, respectful, and student-centred, encouraging active participation and independent thinking.
- Incorporate practical, experimental, and project-based learning strategies to help students connect abstract concepts to everyday life.
- Keep accurate, up-to-date records of attendance, grades, and learner development, and produce the required academic reports on schedule.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and discipline in all interactions, and enforce school policies consistently to maintain a safe learning environment.
- Take part in co-curricular activities, school events, and departmental meetings, while also collaborating with parents and colleagues to support each learner's overall growth.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor of Education degree with a teachable subject combination that includes Mathematics, Integrated Science, Pre-Technical Studies, or a closely related field.
- Current registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and a valid teaching certificate.
- At least two years of demonstrated teaching experience in a junior secondary school or a comparable educational setting (an advantage, not a strict requirement).
- Solid understanding and practical experience in implementing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), including its assessment methods and learner-centred philosophy.
- Strong ICT proficiency, with the ability to integrate digital tools, educational software, and online resources effectively into daily instruction and record-keeping.
