Job Description

Role Overview

This role puts you in charge of stock accuracy and warehouse orderliness for a fast-moving consumer goods business based in Ukunda, Kwale County. Your day will split between hands-on supervision of goods as they arrive, move, and leave the facility, and careful reconciliation work that keeps manual bin cards, spreadsheets, and the company’s ERP system perfectly aligned. The decisions you make directly reduce financial losses from mismatched counts, ruined packaging, or expired materials, which makes the position essential to keeping production on schedule and costs under control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead periodic physical stock counts across warehouse floors and remote collection centres, comparing actual quantities with system records and resolving every discrepancy.
  • Track raw materials from the moment they are received until they enter production, ensuring all delivery notes, transfer forms, and dispatch documents are captured in both digital and paper-based systems.
  • Direct the daily activities of warehouse assistants, assigning tasks for receiving, put-away, order picking, and loading while checking that handling procedures are followed correctly.
  • Improve storage layouts to maximise usable space, keep high-turnover items easy to reach, and protect fragile packaging and finished goods from damage.
  • Collaborate with production planners to set reorder levels for raw materials and packaging, avoiding both urgent stockouts and excessive inventory that ties up working capital.
  • Identify and isolate damaged, slow-moving, or obsolete stock, then prepare clear reports so management can approve write-offs, returns, or disposal quickly.
  • Compile weekly and monthly inventory summaries that show turnover patterns, holding costs, and variance trends, using Microsoft Excel and ERP data to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Enforce safety rules, cleanliness standards, and correct lifting and stacking practices throughout the warehouse to reduce accidents and product spoilage.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a CPA finalist qualification.
  • Proven work history in inventory control, store management, or stock accounting, ideally within FMCG or a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Sage, QuickBooks, or Microsoft Dynamics, plus advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of stock rotation methods like FIFO and LIFO, stock-taking procedures, and ledger reconciliation.
  • Strong supervisory presence with the ability to instruct, train, and hold team members accountable for accuracy and discipline.
  • Exceptional attention to numbers and a patient, methodical approach to auditing large volumes of inventory without losing focus.
  • Full-time availability to work from the company’s Ukunda facility in Kwale County, Kenya.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Visible ownership over inventory results, allowing you to see how your daily discipline directly affects profitability and production flow.
  • Exposure to multi-site storage operations and a decentralised raw material collection network, building leadership experience that goes beyond a single store room.
  • A clear progression path toward Inventory Manager or broader regional supply chain roles for those who deliver consistent stock accuracy and process improvements.
  • Monthly gross compensation set between KSh 30,000 and KSh 40,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
