Job Description

Role Overview

This internship places you inside the day-to-day financial operations of a professional organisation, where you will support the accounts team in keeping records accurate, transactions reconciled, and reporting cycles on schedule. Your work directly helps leadership make informed decisions and keeps the organisation compliant with internal policies. It is a hands-on learning role designed for someone ready to apply academic knowledge to real business challenges while building confidence across a range of finance functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing and recording financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Support monthly reconciliations of bank statements, supplier accounts, and general ledger entries.
  • Help prepare schedules, spreadsheets, and reports for internal reviews and audit preparation.
  • Maintain organised and accurate financial records, ensuring all documentation is filed correctly and can be retrieved easily.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external contacts to resolve discrepancies or obtain missing information.
  • Contribute to data entry and financial analysis tasks using accounting software and digital tools.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
  • Document recurring processes and identify small efficiency improvements where appropriate.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or an equivalent business-related qualification from a recognised institution.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly and professionally.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including spreadsheet software, bookkeeping tools, and common office productivity suites.
  • High level of digital literacy and comfort adapting to new systems or platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly when handling numerical data and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain discretion when dealing with sensitive records.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritise competing demands, and manage time effectively.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision, while also collaborating well within a team.
  • Flexible attitude towards working hours, occasional after-hours support, or travel when required by the role.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a genuine willingness to learn, take ownership of assigned tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • Structured exposure to real organisational operations, giving you meaningful insight into how a professional finance function runs.
  • Direct mentorship from experienced professionals who are invested in your growth and feedback.
  • The opportunity to contribute to projects that have tangible outcomes, not just shadowing or clerical work.
  • A formal letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the internship.
  • Networking opportunities across the organisation and the potential to be considered for future openings based on performance.
