Role Overview

This installer role is a hands-on field position focused on bringing internet equipment and related systems online at customer locations. The person in this job travels to scheduled appointments, positions routers, cabling, and electrical components, then tests and adjusts the setup until it is safe, stable, and ready for use. Because the installer is often the customer's main point of contact, the quality of the work and the clarity of the handoff directly affect service satisfaction and the employer's reputation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the daily dispatch schedule, confirm appointment details, and prepare the hardware and materials needed before arriving at each site.
• Position, mount, and connect routers, cabling, and related electrical equipment so the installation performs as intended and presents no hazards.
• Test electrical systems and service components, diagnose router or connectivity problems, and make adjustments until the service functions correctly.
• Move and stage materials at customer premises, help remove old equipment, and complete assigned work within the time window set for each job.
• Show customers how installed products operate, explain key features and basic maintenance, and answer questions about ongoing support or repairs.
• Explain the benefits of add-on sales products and offer relevant upgrades that fit the customer's setup.
• Lead and coordinate fellow installers on shared jobs, and check subcontractor work against performance, quality, and infrastructure standards.
• Keep installation tools and equipment in safe working order, display required identification, wear protective and professional gear, handle parts and inventory tasks when needed, and review paperwork with customers.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; a certificate, diploma, or completion of a trade school or technical training program is preferred.
• Practical experience installing and adjusting internet equipment, including routers, cabling, and electrical systems.
• Ability to test electrical equipment and systems and confirm they operate safely.
• Troubleshooting skills for routers, service systems, and related connectivity issues.
• Working knowledge of installation tools, electrical safety practices, and maintenance procedures.
• Comfort working in physically demanding conditions, including tight crawl spaces and a range of climates, while maintaining physical fitness.
• Clear communication skills for explaining technical details to customers and reviewing required paperwork.
• Ability to work independently on a schedule while also coordinating with other installers and subcontractors.
