Role Overview

This role is the on-site face of equipment installation, turning a service order into a safe, working setup at the customer’s location. Day to day, the installer stages materials, positions hardware, tests routers and related service components, and confirms that everything operates as intended. The position also supports customers after the visit by explaining how the equipment works and by handling maintenance or repair needs as they arise.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep in sync with dispatch to manage daily appointments and schedule changes.
• Move materials into place at customer sites and remove old equipment before installing replacements.
• Test electrical equipment and service systems after setup to verify that routers and connections function correctly and safely.
• Explain product features, operation, and upkeep to customers, and suggest relevant add-on products or services.
• Guide and coordinate fellow installers, helping them stay on task and complete jobs within the scheduled window.
• Check sub-contractor work against performance, quality, and safety expectations.
• Keep installation tools and test equipment clean and safe to use; help with parts handling, shipping and receiving, and inventory counts when needed.
• Use required identification and safety gear, maintain a courteous professional presence, and review completed paperwork with customers as needed.
• Work in tight spaces and varying climates while maintaining the physical fitness the job demands.

Requirements & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; a post-secondary certificate or diploma is preferred.
• Completion of a trade school program or technical training course is an advantage.
• Practical experience installing and adjusting internet equipment, including routers, cabling, and electrical systems.
• Ability to test electrical equipment and confirm safe functionality.
• Diagnostic skills for resolving router and service-system issues.
• Familiarity with the hand and test tools used in installations, safe electrical practices, and routine equipment upkeep.
• Physical ability to crawl into small spaces, work in all climates, and handle strenuous installation conditions.
• Comfort explaining products to customers and reviewing paperwork with them.
• Experience guiding other installers or overseeing sub-contractors is helpful.
