Role Overview
This 3-month internship places you inside a fast-moving financial institution where you will learn the full client journey from acquisition through retention. You will work directly with teams handling sales, collections, and portfolio health, gaining hands-on exposure to how financial firms keep their customer base active and profitable. Your daily efforts will contribute directly to client satisfaction, timely payments, and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the sales team in identifying and onboarding new customers, guiding them through initial account setup and documentation.
- Make outbound calls to remind clients on payment schedules and negotiate collection plans for overdue accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of client interactions, payment promises, and follow-up actions in internal systems.
- Monitor customer accounts for early signs of risk or disengagement and escalate issues to senior team members.
- Assist in developing and executing retention campaigns aimed at keeping existing clients active and loyal.
- Work with portfolio management teams to analyze repayment trends and flag accounts requiring recovery action.
- Respond to customer inquiries and concerns professionally, ensuring positive experiences at every touchpoint.
- Participate in regular training sessions and team meetings, contributing ideas to improve client engagement strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Currently in the final year of a degree or diploma program, or a recent graduate in Business, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- No prior work experience is required, but any internship or volunteer experience in sales, customer service, or finance is an added advantage.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to converse confidently and persuasively.
- Comfortable using basic computer tools such as spreadsheets, email, and customer management software.
- Ability to handle rejection and maintain a positive attitude when dealing with difficult collection conversations.
- Good organisational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple client accounts effectively.
- A willingness to learn practical financial concepts, including credit management, portfolio risk, and customer lifecycle.
- Self-motivated and target-driven, with a genuine interest in building a career in the financial services sector.
