Role Overview
This IT support role involves responding to technical incidents and service requests across the organisation, with a focus on restoring normal operations quickly and preventing recurring problems. You will work alongside infrastructure and applications teams to maintain stable computing environments, while also contributing to documentation and minor system upgrades that improve overall efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for hardware, software, and network-related issues raised by staff.
- Log, prioritise, and resolve helpdesk tickets, ensuring clear communication and timely follow-up with end users.
- Install, configure, and update operating systems, productivity suites, and line-of-business applications.
- Create and manage user accounts, access permissions, and password resets in local directory services.
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity problems, including Wi-Fi, VPN, and peripheral connectivity.
- Maintain accurate records of troubleshooting steps, known errors, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in system backups, patch management, and occasional hardware refresh cycles.
- Support senior team members with small-scale IT projects such as software deployments and office relocations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a closely related field.
- At least one year of hands-on experience in an IT support or helpdesk environment.
- Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, including file systems and basic administration.
- Familiarity with core networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and common troubleshooting tools.
- Understanding of ticketing systems, remote support tools, and customer service best practices.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users and to prioritise competing requests.
