Role Overview
This position places you at the operational heart of a fast-growing vehicle financing company in Kenya, where you will manage the daily rhythm of people operations across the entire employee lifecycle. Day to day, you will coordinate hiring steps, maintain clean personnel and payroll records, respond to staff concerns, and keep every HR process aligned with Kenyan employment law. Your work matters because it directly shapes how smoothly the team functions, how safely confidential data is handled, and how supported employees feel in a high-pressure financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Run the recruitment pipeline from start to finish: posting roles, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, completing reference checks, and organising structured orientation for new hires.
- Draft and manage employment agreements, job descriptions, and all separation paperwork, ensuring departure procedures are complete and documented correctly.
- Keep personnel files, leave balances, and attendance logs accurate and up to date, ready for audit at any time and compliant with internal policy and statutory rules.
- Act as the approachable first stop for employee questions and grievances, mediating sensitive situations and supporting fair disciplinary processes with care and confidentiality.
- Coordinate performance appraisal cycles by preparing review schedules, collecting manager feedback, chasing documentation, and tracking follow-up actions.
- Support engagement efforts such as recognition programmes, team events, and internal announcements, and help identify and organise training that addresses real skill gaps.
- Prepare monthly payroll inputs by verifying leave, overtime, statutory deductions, and benefit adjustments, then hand off clean, accurate data for processing.
- Maintain reliable records inside the company’s HRIS and Google Workspace tools, using spreadsheets to produce timely reports for managers and leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field; a professional HR certification such as CHRP is an added advantage.
- At least two years of hands-on experience as an HR Officer or HR Generalist, ideally within a fast-moving, regulated sector.
- Solid working knowledge of the Employment Act of Kenya, statutory payroll deductions, and workplace safety compliance requirements.
- Comfortable using Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets, for data tracking and reporting; practical experience with HRIS platforms and applicant tracking systems is strongly preferred.
- Available to work full-time from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in a multicultural, deadline-driven environment.
- Known for empathy and active listening, able to build trust across all levels of the organisation while remaining balanced and fair.
- Demonstrates absolute discretion when handling payroll data, disciplinary matters, and executive-level records.
- Highly organised with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, including running several recruitment drives while keeping leave schedules and compliance tasks on track.
What We Offer / Why Join
- A chance to meaningfully influence workplace culture and employee experience inside a growing vehicle financing business.
- Broad exposure to the full HR function, from recruitment and employee relations to payroll coordination and performance management.
- A collaborative team that values open feedback, continuous learning, and fresh ideas.
