Role Overview
You will join the Talent Acquisition Unit as an intern and become the team’s go-to person for turning scattered recruitment data into clear, usable insights. Your daily work will involve organising personnel documents, reviewing records for retention or disposal, and building straightforward visual reports that help the unit make better hiring decisions. This role matters because accurate record-keeping and clean data directly support the smooth running of staff and non-staff recruitment processes across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate, scan, and maintain digital and paper documentation related to staff and non-staff recruitment files.
- Pull data from internal databases and spreadsheets, verifying its completeness and correcting inaccuracies before use.
- Clean and structure raw recruitment data so it can be analysed reliably for reporting purposes.
- Create simple charts, graphs, and dashboards that make recruitment trends easy for team leads to understand at a glance.
- Draft memos, track contract follow-ups, and prepare official correspondence as needed by the unit.
- Review non-staff records against retention policies, flagging files that should be kept, archived, or destroyed.
- Work with the Records Management Team to ensure all file-handling steps comply with organisational guidelines.
- Document current workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose practical improvements to filing and review processes.
- Prepare a final presentation summarising your findings, recommendations, and suggested efficiency gains for the unit.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At the time of application, you must be enrolled in a graduate programme (master’s or equivalent), be in your final year of a bachelor’s degree, or have recently graduated with a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD.
- Your field of study should be closely related to the internship, preferably computer science, human resources, business administration, or a similar discipline.
- Strong computer literacy is required, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite and common spreadsheet tools.
- No prior professional work experience is required, but you should demonstrate a genuine interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the principles of its Charter.
- You must be able to interact respectfully with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, showing openness and tolerance for different viewpoints.
- You will need to indicate which of the eligibility criteria you meet and attach proof to your application; an official certificate may be requested later.
- Attention to detail, comfort with routine administrative tasks, and a basic ability to turn data into clear summaries are essential for success in this internship.
