Role Overview
As a Storekeeper, you will be the backbone of our daily stock operations, ensuring that all incoming goods are received, inspected, stored, and issued in a controlled and efficient manner. Your attention to detail will directly impact the smooth running of our hospitality operation by preventing shortages, reducing waste, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This is a hands-on role that requires constant coordination between suppliers, internal departments, and the procurement team.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive all deliveries and verify quantities, quality, and specifications against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Maintain an organized and clean storage area, ensuring all items are correctly labelled and stored according to product type and handling requirements.
- Issue stock to relevant departments and individuals, updating records immediately to reflect accurate movements and balances.
- Follow the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle to minimize spoilage and ensure older stock is used before newer deliveries.
- Carry out regular stock counts and inventory checks, investigating and reporting any discrepancies, damages, or losses.
- Monitor stock levels and notify the procurement team when reordering is required to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Maintain all documentation related to stock movements, including receipts, requisition forms, and return notes, and keep records up to date in the inventory management system.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and food hygiene standards when handling, storing, and rotating goods, and promptly report any issues that could compromise safety.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A certificate or diploma in Stores Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least two years of work experience as a storekeeper, preferably in a hospitality or fast-paced service environment.
- Proven experience in receiving, issuing, recording, and managing stock on a day-to-day basis.
- Sound knowledge of stock counting methods, inventory control principles, and FIFO application.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or systems is an added advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and a high level of accuracy when handling numbers and records.
- A practical understanding of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations and how they apply to storage areas.
- Honest, dependable, and capable of working efficiently without constant supervision.
