Job Description

Role Overview

This position drives the full lifecycle of retail products, from initial concept through launch and ongoing refinement, ensuring they align with business goals and market demands. On a day-to-day basis, you will lead market research, collaborate with cross-functional teams across digital, marketing, and compliance, and champion innovation to keep the product portfolio competitive. Your work directly shapes how customers engage with the bank’s offerings and influences revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute the product strategy for retail, mapping it to broader organisational objectives and evolving customer needs.
  • Oversee the entire product lifecycle—from ideation, prototyping, and testing to commercial launch, performance monitoring, and eventual retirement.
  • Conduct deep-dive market research, competitor analysis, and customer insight gathering to uncover innovation opportunities and validate new concepts or technologies.
  • Develop go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and positioning that drive adoption and maximise product impact.
  • Partner with internal teams (operations, legal, risk, marketing, digital) and external stakeholders like fintechs and regulators to deliver product initiatives smoothly.
  • Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements, internal risk frameworks, and compliance standards; proactively identify and mitigate emerging risks across the portfolio.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of product managers, fostering a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular performance reporting and risk insights to senior leadership, recommending refinements to sustain product value.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university is required; a Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly advantageous.
  • Professional certification in Product Management, Banking, Marketing, or Management (e.g., CIM, CMI, CPM, ACIB) is a plus.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including at least:
    • 6 years in sales
    • 4 years in stakeholder management
    • 4 years in strategic planning
    • 4 years in team management
    • 4 years in product development
    • 2 years in project management
