Role Overview
This position sits within the agribusiness banking team, reporting directly to the Relationship Manager for Agribusiness. You will act as the primary point of contact for farming and agri-enterprise clients, identifying new lending and deposit opportunities while safeguarding portfolio quality. Your daily work involves building trusted relationships, assessing credit requests, and actively expanding the bank’s share in the agricultural sector across the branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the branch’s agribusiness growth strategy by sourcing and converting new borrowing and deposit relationships from both existing customers and untapped prospects.
- Act as the main liaison for agribusiness clients, ensuring their applications, queries, and service issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Prepare and present credit appraisals for new agribusiness facilities, submitting sound recommendations to the credit department for final approval.
- Monitor the agribusiness loan portfolio to minimise arrears, proactively managing watch-list accounts and following up on overdue payments.
- Grow both interest and non-interest income by cross-selling transactional accounts, trade products, and other banking services to agribusiness customers.
- Conduct field research on competitor products, pricing, and market developments, then translate findings into practical product and channel improvements.
- Support the development of new agribusiness products and tariffs, identifying gaps in the current offering that respond to client needs.
- Coach and guide team members and agents on product knowledge, client service standards, and the latest market intelligence, while maintaining accurate reporting and meeting turnaround times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A university degree in a business-related field; additional banking certificates such as AKIB are an advantage.
- At least three years of banking experience, with a minimum of two years specifically in business development and customer relationship management.
- Demonstrated credit appraisal skills and the ability to analyse financial information, structure facilities, and resolve client concerns effectively.
- Sound knowledge of prudential guidelines, KYC requirements, and the regulatory framework governing banking in the region.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with diverse teams and engaging directly with farmers, cooperatives, and agribusiness owners.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and confident in an external-facing role where achieving growth targets is essential.
