Role Overview
This position leads the bank’s micro-business segment, overseeing relationship teams and branch partners to deliver credit, liability, and advisory solutions to small enterprises. Day to day, the role combines portfolio management, team leadership, and market-facing activity—coaching officers, visiting customers, and steering product development to grow a healthy, profitable micro-lending book. The work matters because micro customers are a growth engine for the bank, and their success depends on responsive service, sound credit decisions, and disciplined follow-through on targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the micro-business portfolio's performance, guiding relationship officers and branch managers to meet revenue, growth, and quality targets.
- Lead customer acquisition campaigns aimed at new and under-served micro enterprises, converting prospects into loyal, active accounts.
- Partner with product development, retail banking leadership, and branch teams to design and refine micro-specific credit products, savings offerings, and service models.
- Monitor portfolio health daily—reviewing arrears, excesses, irregular accounts, and repayment patterns—while intervening early to protect loan quality.
- Coach, motivate, and hold relationship officers and branch staff accountable for budgeted KPIs, closing performance gaps through structured follow-up.
- Conduct regular field visits to micro-business clients, deepening relationships, understanding their evolving needs, and expanding the share of wallet.
- Stay close to the market and competitors, using insights to shape penetration strategies for both acquisition and retention.
- Organize customer engagement sessions—financial literacy workshops, mentorship clinics, and networking forums—that build trust and loyalty among micro entrepreneurs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related discipline; professional banking certifications are an added advantage.
- At least three years of banking experience, with direct exposure to MSME lending, micro-credit operations, or relationship management.
- Working knowledge of MSME banking products, lending policies, and prudential guidelines governing credit risk.
- Proven ability to lead teams and deliver measurable business outcomes in a target-driven environment.
- Strong administrative, organizational, and negotiation skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Self-motivated and entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable making quick, balanced decisions that weigh risk, profitability, and customer responsiveness.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing market dynamics and competitor activity to inform business development strategy.
