Inkomoko is a high-growth, mission-driven social enterprise with a vision for an Africa where thriving communities, young people, and refugees are engaged, have access to relevant innovations, and where African solutions solve African problems. We are looking for a strategic and accomplished Graphic Designer (Brand & Digital) to bring our ideas, data, research, and stories to life through clear, compelling visual communication.
Reporting to the Regional Communications Manager and working closely with the Campaigns Manager and Digital Media Manager, you will design across social media, campaigns, reports, presentations, events, websites, video, and print. You will start every project with the audience, objective, message, and desired action, then recommend formats, build creative direction, and produce polished final assets that meet the highest standards.
This role balances creative thinking, digital and campaign design, brand systems management, and design operations. You will help scale Inkomoko's brand across multiple countries while maintaining consistency, accessibility, and impact.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional experience in graphic design, brand design, visual communication, or a related role
- Proven ability to connect design decisions to audience, communication objectives, message, and desired action
- Experience taking projects from initial brief through concept development, feedback, and final delivery
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Working proficiency in Figma and experience developing editable templates in Canva
- Ability to design responsive content for desktop, tablet, and mobile screen sizes
- Advanced grasp of typography, layout, composition, colour, hierarchy, and information design
- Strong attention to detail, including typographical errors, alignment, colour consistency, and technical specifications
- Strong visual storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex information into simple, coherent visual structures
- Creative judgement to identify when a brief, idea, or format needs improvement and recommend a better approach
- Ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience preparing files for professional print production
- Experience developing or maintaining brand guidelines, templates, or design systems
- Working knowledge of accessible design practices, including colour contrast, readable type, and mobile-friendly layouts
Responsibilities
- Translate campaign objectives, audience insights, research, and written content into clear visual concepts, reviewing briefs and asking clarifying questions
- Develop moodboards, sketches, storyboards, and concept options, and present creative recommendations with clear rationale
- Create platform-specific and campaign assets for LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, email, websites, and paid digital campaigns
- Build visual identities, design toolkits, and templates for campaigns, report launches, events, and thought-leadership content
- Design reports, fact sheets, presentations, proposals, brochures, one-pagers, and event materials, adapting layouts across formats, languages, and country contexts
- Create simple motion graphics, animated assets, video titles, and graphic treatments to support multimedia content
- Prepare final files for digital publication and print production, coordinating with printers, consultants, and vendors on specs, proofs, and outputs
- Apply and maintain Inkomoko's visual identity across digital and physical communications, building component libraries and templates for country teams
- Quality-check every asset before delivery and apply accessible design practices, including readable type, appropriate colour contrast, subtitles, and mobile-friendly layouts
- Manage multiple briefs, stakeholders, revisions, and deadlines using the Communications team's planning systems
- Collaborate with writers, content leads, the Social Media Coordinator, and the Multimedia Producer to ensure words and visuals communicate one coherent idea
- Stay informed about design practices, platform changes, emerging content formats, and creative work from other organisations
Compensation: Competitive salary, performance-based bonus, health insurance for self and family, staff savings and provident fund, generous annual leave, parental leave, and sabbatical options.
