Role Overview
The Graphic Designer converts the institute's language programmes, examinations, cultural events, and promotional drives into clear, striking visuals that speak to students, partners, and the wider public. Based on-site in Nairobi and reporting to the communications lead, you own the look of everything the organisation publishes — from social posts and web banners to brochures, certificates, and physical signage — keeping it unified across every regional branch. Because prospective learners judge the institute long before they walk through the door, your craft and consistency have a direct bearing on enrolment, reputation, and event turnout.
Key Responsibilities
- Conceptualise and produce artwork for marketing flyers, course brochures, banners, corporate merchandise, and academic publications, taking each piece from first draft to final signed-off file.
- Create graphics, reusable templates, and multimedia visual assets for social media channels, website banners, and email newsletters.
- Develop event-specific design work — backdrops, certificates, invitations, and display signage — for institutional and cultural programmes.
- Apply and protect the organisation's visual identity guidelines across all internal and external communication, flagging anything that drifts off-brand.
- Prepare high-resolution, print-ready files to correct specifications and work alongside procurement colleagues and external print vendors to verify output quality before release.
- Maintain a central, well-organised library of design assets, stock media, logos, and project templates so approved material is easy to locate and reuse.
- Collaborate with the communications and marketing teams to shape visual campaigns tied to upcoming language courses and exam sittings.
- Adapt and produce localised design material for individual branches when multi-city requirements arise.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or certification in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Communication Design, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of active graphic design work in a fast-paced agency, corporate, or institutional setting.
- Portfolio: Demonstrable strength in print layout, visual branding, social media creative, and typography — submitted work should show range across these areas.
- Software: Advanced proficiency with industry-standard tools, particularly the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
- Creative judgement: A sharp eye for colour harmony, spatial composition, and the technical requirements of print output.
- Execution: Strong organisational habits and the ability to run several projects concurrently, meet firm print deadlines, and hold a consistent brand standard under pressure.
